This morning, we sail past the iconic Kasr Ibrim Fortress. Learn the story of the last Nubian monument remaining in its original location,
and see it from the ship’s Sun Deck. Enjoy lunch on board as you cruise across Lake Nasser to Amada.
This afternoon, tour the small but interesting Nubian Amada Temple.
The oldest of the Lake Nasser temples, it houses a collection of brightly painted historical carvings.

The Oldest Remaining Nubian Temple
Explore one of the finest examples of the ancient temples of Nubia. The oldest surviving structure of its kind in this remote region, Amada Temple was originally
built by Thutmose III and later expanded by his son and grandson. Many observers believe that the unique harmony they achieved reflects their good
relationships across the three generations. You will approach the temple by motorboat with your guide, leaving directly from your moored Viking ship. Upon
arrival, you will notice that the temple is small compared to others around Lake Nasser. Yet it is historically significant because of its age and the inscriptions
found within. Among its collection of brightly painted historical carvings, the most important is located at the end of the sanctuary. It depicts Amenhotep II
slaughtering seven Syrian prisoners of war. The source of the temple’s name is mysterious; though the structure is Nubian in origin, its name is not.
