埃及，世界上最古老的文明古國之一。
這次我們是參加 Viking 的 river cruise - Pathways of Pharaohs，另加上去 Jordan 四晚，全程共十六天。
先飛到開羅（Cairo) 停留三晚，第一天我們去 Sakkara 參觀 step pyramid，然後在 Giza Plateau 參觀 Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure
以及 Sphinx。
第二天參觀埃及古物博物馆，阿里清真寺（Mosque of Muhammad Ali），Khan el-Khalili Market。
開羅結束後飛往 Luxor上船 (MS Mayfair)，沿河往南我們參觀 Karnak and Luxor Temples，Valley of the Kings，Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut，
Madīnat Habu，Colossi of Memmon ，Temple of Horus at Edfu，Kom Ombo Temple，Philae Temple & Nubian Museum，
Hot Air Balloon Ride，Felucca Ride， 最後我們在 Aswan 結束這條船的旅遊。
離船，從 Aswan 坐飛機四十五分鐘到 Abu Simbel 上另一條船 (MS Omar El Khayam)，這條船沿河往北開，參觀 Abu Simbel Temples，Amada Temple，
Wadi dl Seboua Temples，Sound & Light Show at Abu Simbel Temples，最後船又開回到 Aswan。
尼羅河邊的古跡參觀完後，我們離船從 Aswan 飛回開羅，結束埃及的十二天旅遊。
我們因為參加 Jordan 的旅遊，再從開羅飛到Amman。

在 Jordan 一直是坐車旅遊，主要去玩的地方是：Petra（註一），Wadi Rum，Dead Sea。
整個旅遊安排得相當緊湊，看的地方很多。
金字塔，這個耳熟能詳的古迹，當你站在它面前時，深為震撼它的雄偉 - “怎麼有這麼大！”， 簡直不可思议。
很多 Temple 都相當壯觀，上面的精致浮雕，古文，呈述著它的歷史故事，導遊都一一加以解說。
Jordan 的四天的旅遊比我想像中來得精彩。
先去 Petra： 穿過兩旁都是高聳岩壁的狹長山谷，有些地方窄得像是一線天，景色非常雄偉而奇特，最後豁然開朗是一座巨大的 Temple 聳立在面前。
沿著崎嶇的山路我們有三位團員又再爬到山頂的 Temple，沿路風景很好，有點像美國的大峽谷，高低不平的石頭台階很不好走，
也有一對團員騎驴子上來 (註二）。
Wadi Rum，我們是坐吉普賞景，吉普車在沙漠曠野開得飛快，顛頗得很厲害。
那裡的沙漠是紅色的，真可說是 “紅沙滾滾”，有好幾部電影，包括 “Lawrence of Arabia” ，“Marshall" 都曾在那裡取景，景色奇佳。

最後我們去 Dead Sea， 嘗試在 Dead Sea 飄浮，因為水的鹽度是 35%，人輕易的能漂浮在水面上，但我要站起來時，
水的浮力，腳放不下來，很狼狽的站起來了，手也被岩石割破了。
第二次再試，要站起來時兩位團友抓住我的手幫我穩定。是很奇妙的經驗。
埃及和Jordan 都是沙漠型氣候，乾燥而熱，選擇合適的月份去旅遊很重要，我們這次十一月去玩，每天清晨時穿件薄外套剛好。
Jordan 的導遊說，我們若夏天來玩的話，根本沒法去爬 Petra 的山頂，因為太熱了，但 Dead Sea 水溫會比氣溫高五度，十一月份也不會冷。
埃及旅遊我們全團有二十五人，三個溫哥華來的年輕老中，加上我們兩位老老中，其餘都是白人，團員間很融洽，
但後來去 Jordan 玩時只剩十六個人參加。
我們去 Wadi Rum 只有八個人參加，坐兩部吉普車在沙漠飛奔，很過癮。
另外值得一提的是，埃及機場安檢極其嚴格，每次上機前都要經過三次仔細檢查 (註三），當然是為了大家的安全，無可厚非。
所遇到的老百姓都很和善，玩得非常愉快。
尤其是看到這麼多宏偉的古跡，在我心裡留下極為深刻的印象，感覺不虛此行。
有人說埃及是你此生至少要去看一次的地方 (註四），不錯，我很同意這個說法，這個文明古國，悠久的歷史文化，
如夢幻般呈現在你眼前，讓人深深的驚嘆。

整個旅遊除了在埃及最後的兩天較輕松外，其餘每天行程極其緊湊，是非常累人的一趟旅遊，
可以說，旅遊是體力的一大考驗。

爬到山頂的 Temple 來回 10 miles， 2400 石頭台階，有幾位團友半途放棄，最後 “攻頂” 成功僅三人，兩位女仕和我這個老頭子，但我回來時都累癱了。

機場一進門是第一次檢查，以防備暴徒進入機場， 第二次安檢是原本的安檢， 第三次的安檢是要上飛機時，你的隨身東西都要被倒出來，
安檢人員將一件件詳細查看。
